Mens Ministry ::
2008 THEME: THE MAN I WANT TO BE
VISION: THE YEAR OF RENEWAL AND OVERFLOW
Function/Purpose:
To reach and develop men in our community with a credible offer of the gospel to equip their biblical, relational, and spiritual growth.
a. Men who need a relationship with Christ
b. Cultural Christians (men on the fringe) - Matt 13:21
c. Men who are disciples, or want to be
d. Men who are leaders, or want to be - 2 Tim 2:2
e. Men who are hurting - Gal 6:2
To create, capture, and sustain momentum through relationships - not events.
To provide training, missions, leadership, and relationship opportunities for men to grow and lead in their families, church, work, and community.
I. Reaching Upward
A. Consistently taking time with God
B. Growing in relationship with Christ
C. Praying for small group members, the small group meeting, and unbelieving friends
II. Reaching Inward
A. Nurturing community, loving relationships, and fun activities within their group
B. Guiding their small group meetings
C. Occasionally having the group extend love to JWBC members in times of special need
D. Attending monthly Men's meetings to receive support and to keep the Men's ministry team current with what is happening in the group
III.Reaching Outward
A. Envisioning the group to reach beyond itself in mission and outreach
B. Taking time as a group to pray for friends, family and co-workers who need Christ
C. Participating in Mission's Outreach projects to support local congregation and community needs
IV. Reaching Forward
A. Encouraging potential leaders to become involved and take the lead
B. Giving away ministry to others
C. Progressively handing over leadership of as many parts of group life as possible to others
